Nervous System

Stress, Anxiety & Insomnia Treatment in Clearwater, FL

Racing thoughts, jaw tension, the 3 AM wake-up — a wired, dysregulated nervous system is one of the most common things we treat. Acupuncture works by shifting the body out of sustained sympathetic ('fight-or-flight') dominance into parasympathetic recovery — the state in which sleep, digestion, and mood reset.

What we treat

Symptoms of Stress, Anxiety & Insomnia

  • Difficulty falling or staying asleep
  • Racing thoughts at night
  • Jaw clenching, tight shoulders, tension headaches
  • Brain fog and low daytime energy
  • Panic episodes or chest tightness
  • Irritability, low patience, emotional flatness

The gap

Why Conventional Treatments Often Fall Short

Ambien works, but the next-day fog and dependence are real. SSRIs help many people, but the side-effect profile keeps others searching. Many high-functioning adults specifically don't want a daily prescription for what is, at its root, a nervous-system regulation problem.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have to come forever?+

No. Most stress/sleep patients move to monthly maintenance after 8–12 weekly visits. Many graduate to as-needed care.

How long does acupuncture take to improve sleep?+

Most insomnia and anxiety patients in Clearwater, FL report falling asleep faster within 2 to 3 visits, with fewer middle-of-the-night wake-ups by week 3. We start twice weekly for three weeks, then move to weekly as your sleep stabilizes.

Can acupuncture help me reduce sleep or anxiety medication?+

Many patients do eventually taper, but only with their prescriber's guidance. Never stop an SSRI, benzodiazepine, or sleep medication abruptly; we support the nervous system while your physician manages any medication change.

What does an anxiety acupuncture session actually feel like?+

Sessions are quiet and calming, using fine needles plus auricular points and often Battlefield Acupuncture. Most patients feel a heavy, relaxed wave within ten minutes, and a good number fall asleep on the table.

Does acupuncture hurt?+

Most patients describe a mild dull ache or warmth at the point — nothing like a hypodermic needle. Acupuncture needles are hair-thin (about 40x thinner than a vaccine needle), and most people relax deeply during the session.

How many sessions will I need?+

Most patients feel measurable change within 3–6 sessions. Chronic or complex conditions typically follow a 6–12 session plan, after which we transition to maintenance care. Dr. Kim builds a clear, written plan during your free consultation.

Do you accept insurance?+

We don't take insurance — Acupuncture of West Florida is a self-pay practice. We do provide a superbill after your visit that some insurance providers will accept for out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA/FSA cards are accepted. We also offer a Give $25 / Get $25 referral credit to keep care affordable.
